Linda S. Remensnyder, Au.D., Doctor of Audiology, who founded Hearing Associates in 1980, presented in Eastbourne, U.K. at the Third International Hearing Loop Conference on October 6. All countries were represented. Her speech, “By Reducing Listening Effort and Social Isolation, can Hearing Loops Play a Role in Delaying Cognitive Decline in the Aging Population with Hearing Loss?” has been described as “thought provoking.” And her recent article, “Used Alone, Hearing Aids Fail to Deliver,” from the Academy of Doctors of Audiology’s professional journal, Audiology Practices, was placed in each attendee’s convention bag. http://www.audiologypractices.org/used-alone-hearing-aids-fail-to-deliver A member of Parliament has approached her to share her presentation with a parliamentary committee. Hearing loss is positively linked with dementia but whether it is a risk factor or early marker is under investigation.
